White Noise

Just finished White Noise by Don DiLillo and then watched the new movie. The movie was an amazingly faithful adaptation. Maybe even more relevant today than when the book came out in the 1985. All the characters are flat, no affect, just living their lives amid all the noise of modern civilization. The only thing that brings out any emotion is fear of death, that is, the only emotion they have is fear and only when they think of death. Their own, or someone close to them. But their concern is to rid themselves of that fear, as if then they would be happy. But they don’t seem able to feel anything, happiness included.
