Biography

Dorothy was born in New Orleans, LA, and later moved to Atlanta, GA, where she graduated with top honors from St. Pius X High School. She graduated from Maryville College in St. Louis, MO, with a degree in Mathematics and minors in Physics and Philosophy, and earned a M.Ed. from Tulane University. She worked for IBM in Cape Canaveral, FL, as a Systems Engineer in Large Systems Marketing, then in Atlanta with IBM as an Instructor, and as Systems Engineering Manager. After 12 years with IBM, she formed her own consulting business where her clients included SunTrust Bank, First Atlanta Bank, Home Depot, Georgia Pacific and Coca-Cola.

Eventually, Dorothy decided to spend more time pursuing her love of writing, studying under Jane Hill and Memye Curtis Tucker, and attending numerous writing workshops and conferences. Later, she taught writing in the continuing education department of Kennesaw State University.

In 1999, she and her husband moved to Punta Gorda, FL, where she continued writing and publishing poetry and often taught classes in poetry in the continuing education department of Florida Southwestern State College in Punta Gorda. They have two sons, Jon and Jeff, and two young grandchildren, and they spent many years sailing the coastal waters of the Gulf.
